Artist Statement:

After getting my BFA from Montserrat College of Art in 1998, I decided to start a custom painting business
“The Artist Touch" a year later in which I worked for the past twelve years. The decorative arts has always
been apart of my interest and allows me to be creative, and explore materials, another aspect I value in art.

Aside from the custom work I create for my clients, my personal work tends to be the extreme opposite of
that of the “traditional” work I create on the walls and furniture in people’s homes. I’m glad for this because
I can use the knowledge of media and color and apply that to the development of my current work.

Found objects are an important part of my art making process. Life is random and I like my art to be an
expression of my life in the process.  I use found objects  like old built up pallets, brushes and rusted metal I
find. I’m attracted to the contour edge of everything and love pattern and design.  Other aesthetics include
abstract expressionism, printmaking and photographic looks.  I like to use traditional materials in
untraditional ways.  Mixed media, objects with paint and collage, gives the look of a “modern nostalgia" and
a life force of its own. I believe in Freudian philosophy of “conscious and unconscious” thinking that happens
in the art making process. The custom work I do has to be very planned and focused.  I prefer my personal
work to be more expressive and spontaneous.  Currently I have been performing live painting with
musicians; painting on large doors in front of an audience.  I have no preconceived notion of what I'll paint
but I tend to go on mood of the music or theme of the show. Work is immediately up for sale.
